Essential Commodities Act Amendment approved by Union Cabinet
The Union Cabinet approved the amendment of Essential Commodities Act of 1955 which provides the Farmers to sell their Agriculture Crops to large retailers, Wholesalers and exporters rather than the licensed traders of Agricultural Produce Market Committee or APMC.
The amendment provides for deregulation of oil seeds, pulses, Onions, potatoes, edible oils and oil seeds.
The intention of this amendment is to lift the status and income of the farmers.
The amendment to Essential Commodities Act of 1955 is called as Farmers(Empowerment and Protection) agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Service Ordinance, 2020.
The amendment provides for the Farmers to go to any States and sell their agriculture products without any State tax.
